Happy 1st Birthday Thys!

One of the best parts of my job is that I have repeat clients and I get to see these little babies grow. My first session with Thys, was a newborn session. I was almost ready to pop with my baby, but was still working up to the end, especially capturing the newborns that change every day. I like unique names (obviously with my baby named Paisley) and it is fun hearing stories on how people chose their baby’s name. Thys is a popular name in the Netherlands and with his parents both being 100% dutch, they wanted to stick with a dutch name. I am also dutch and my dad always said, “If you ain’t dutch, you ain’t much.” I know it is cheesy, but kind of funny too. Another one of the things you look back on and wonder, what were they thinking saying that to us?! Anyway, here’s a preview of this happy, little birthday boy.

DIY, photo display and affordable design w/a WOW factor!

Photos and design go hand in hand!

Snow Day in Michigan!

We had our first snow day of the year yesterday and for many that means a day to play outside in the snow. Well, that is not the case for me. I think snow is beautiful, but I really don’t like “playing” in it! Plus, with a baby who isn’t walking yet, snow really isn’t fun for her. So, this is what we did. The girls dressed up in adorable sundresses, put their shades on, and pretended it was a beautiful day. Girls love dress up and many love their pictures taken, so this was a fun activity for us.

Emma’s 4 Year PICS!

Emma was a very shy, almost 4 year old girl. Sometimes with shy children my sessions start a little slow, but when we find our common bond (like talking about her Aerial party she’s having this weekend) she started to relax and have fun. Emma has the biggest eyes and I had to ask her mom part way through if she liked close ups because I kept focusing on those eyes! We had a great session and I found out at the end, while playing tag with her, that for an almost 4 year old, Emma was fast! Check the Children’s Portfolio and my Facebook page for more of my favorite shots of Emma.

New to Our Neighborhood, Baby Kurt!

We recently had new neighbors move in next door. They are really sweet people and just had a little baby named Kurt. I was excited when she called me to take his 3 month pics! I love new clients and I love taking baby pics! He was a happy little guy and seemed to actually enjoy our session. Here’s a little preview.

Happy Birthday Sabra!

One year old sessions can be easy (if they aren’t walking yet) or exhausting when I’m chasing them around. Today, Sabra was spunky and full of energy. We had another amazingly warm morning here in Michigan, so after a few indoor shots we decided to go outside. Sabra had a lot of fun outside and we ended our session playing peek-a-boo on the deck in my back yard.

Already 6 Months, Little Miss Molly

Saying you have a favorite client is almost like saying you have a favorite child; you just don’t do it! However, if I were to break that rule, it very well could be for Molly. Not only do I love her name, she is the perfect baby to photograph. We did newborn pics where she slept the whole time while her mother and I went through all of my props and changed her clothes many times. Well, today wasn’t any different, she was perfect! She was smiling away with different outfits and poses, just perfect!

Family Crossroads

Today I had the opportunity to take photos of board members for a non-profit, who is in the process of creating their website. I encourage you to look them up on Facebook and like their page. Here is a little summary of their cause. “Family Crossroads is a newly formed west Michigan non-profit striving to give kids with autism and other communication challenges the gift of being heard. We are doing this by providing technology (iPad 2′s to be used for supported typing) and education/training for the parents and teachers of these wonderful children.”

Gavin, 9 Months!

I had fun with these boys, especially little Gavin. He is just three days younger than my daughter and nine months is such a fun age! Gavin was all smiles, unlike one of his older brothers, but oh well; I stole a few smiles from him too. I love this middle photo, doesn’t it just capture the nature of the father and son relationship?!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I have seven shoots in the next three days, so make sure you are following this week! It is going to be a fun week! This is the card I made for my middle daughter last night, since I forgot to get her cards. Oops!
